- Integer - like five or 28
What are Equivalent Fractions?
Equivalent fractions are fractions with dissimilar numbers representing the same office of a whole. They have unlike numerators and denominators, but their fractional values are the same.
For case, call back about the fraction ane/2. It ways half of something. You can also say that half dozen/12 is half, and that fifty/100 is half. They represent the same part of the whole. These equivalent fractions contain different numbers but they hateful the same thing: one/2 = vi/12 = 50/100
How to Find Equivalent Fractions
Multiply both the numerator and denominator of a fraction by the same whole number. As long equally y'all multiply both height and bottom of the fraction past the same number, you won't change the value of the fraction, and y'all'll create an equivalent fraction.
Example Equivalent Fractions
Find fractions equivalent to three/4 past multiplying the numerator and denominator by the same whole number:
\( \dfrac{3}{4} \times \dfrac{ii}{2} = \dfrac{6}{8} \)
\( \dfrac{3}{four} \times \dfrac{three}{3} = \dfrac{9}{12} \)
\( \dfrac{three}{4} \times \dfrac{iv}{4} = \dfrac{12}{xvi} \)
\( \dfrac{iii}{4} \times \dfrac{5}{five} = \dfrac{fifteen}{20} \)
\( \dfrac{iii}{4} \times \dfrac{vi}{6} = \dfrac{eighteen}{24} \)
Therefore these are all equivalent fractions:
\( \dfrac{iii}{4} = \dfrac{6}{8} = \dfrac{9}{12} = \dfrac{xv}{xx} = \dfrac{18}{24} \)
Note that if you reduce all of these fractions to lowest terms, they equal iii/iv.
